AutoCAD 2010, how do you convert a drawing file to open on older versions such as Auto CAD 2008.?

I have recently used AutoCAD 2010 to produce a drawing project, however the usual version i do use at the printer is autoCAD 2008. When i tried to open this drawing on the old version it stated that i would need to convert the drawing file to open it. If someone could explain the process i would greatly appreciate it…… Thanks

  1. KJ says:

If it is the same as 2008 you would

File, Save as, than change the files of type (at the bottom under file name)

  2. Eugene says:

what KJ mentioned would work. Open it in the newer version software and when you ‘save as’ choose an earlier version.

Another useful tool is Autodesk’s FREE DWG TrueViewer. you can view newer versions of autocad as well as convert them to earlier versions. see link below.
