How can I scale my Autocad drawing so when I dimension certain parts it will output the distance in feet?

I downloaded the AutoCAD 2010 demo and I’m trying to figure out how to fix my scale. I want my scale to be 1″= 20′ but my drawing is in units of inches. How do I get my dimensions to read in feet? I’m a newb to 2010 but the last AutoCAD that I am familiar with is 2006. Any help is much appreciated.

  1. Surveyor says:

Use the UNITS command and select “FEET” as your units. This is all you need to do. When plotting to a certain scale, make sure to create a scaled viewport in a paper space layout. It’s really very simple… everything is pretty much automated.
