How do I create a hole in AutoCad 2007?

I have a metal plate drawn out and I want to have a rectangular hole in the middle of it. How do I create it? This is my second day using AutoCad so I have almost no idea how to use it. If you could give me the steps to do it like tell me what to push exactly, that’d be great!

  1. Promise of the Storm says:

Draw box in the center of the plate then use the SUBTRACT Command
    to use the subtract command
Type it in the command line or use the modify option on menu bar then solid editing then subtract
after you run this command first select your plate then hit inter then select the box and again hit enter
