I am trying to find a guide to computer aided design and analysis for engineering students. Where at?

I am wanting to find a guide to teach CAD to engineering students that reinforces the concepts (both computer and non-computer) related skills necessary for the following programs:

AutoCAD Civil 3D
AutoCAD Map 3D
Autodesk Revit Structure

What I am looking for is a guide on the concepts needed to use these programs and how to use them to acheive the civil engineering goal. I am in an ABET engineering program now, but it is difficult to schedule the right classes that I need while maintaining a reasonable work and school load. Any tips?

First, I believe that you won’t find a book that covers both Civil as well as Revit Structure (an Architectural program). That being said, if you wish to teach both you’ll need two different texts. By going to http://www.Borders.com , http://www.BarnesandNoble.com , or www. amazon.com you’ll find a lot of great books on the Civil programs.

Revit Structure is a different problem. I’ve yet to find a good book covering the topics related to this program outside of the books provided by Autodesk itself (or http://www.ascented.com ).

In short… you’ll be required to give some thought as to what can be learned. Each program has a fairly large learning curve and to teach all three programs may take longer than a simple semester unless you plan to not cover much of the fundamentals these programs are designed to help with.
