Not that I can think of. I used AutoCAD in college and when I owned my drafting business. You can read about how the program works in various books, but until you actually try to apply the knowledge within the program itself, it’s not going to make much sense.

They probably make some kind of tutorial book somewhere. I know they do for ProE, so they probably have it for AutoCAD too.

Go to and search for AutoCAD. Oodles of tutorial books come up. Even one in the “for Dummies” series.

When you install the AutoCAD program you will have the option to customize installation. You can choose to install tutorials that will walk you through all the functions and tools in the program. It usually sets you up with a sample file that you continue to work on as you advance through the tutorial so that you are actually using the program, rather than reading about how to run the program.

Apply for a job as a CAD operator. Tell the interviewer you can do CAD . Get the job….It’s called trial by fire. You would be amazed how fast you start learning once your a$$ is on the line. If you start on Monday, by Friday you will be an old pro…or canned.

    Dear Man,
The more you explore the Cad the most you can find yourself as a nice operator so try to work on different projects such as Architectural and Civil Drawings.

If you have a choice, you might want to learn SolidWorks. Or learn “Inventor” which is AutoCADs new 3D solids program. AutoCAD is primarily a 2D tool and is quickly becoming obsolete.
