  1. Paul says:

Autocad is definitley going backwards. The entire Ribbon interface is not user friendly at all. I work for the governement, and about 99% of the designers have taken the Riibbon off. Also, the faint color of the icons, makes for eye strain.

  2. Robert says:

We are on subscription and try to stay up to date. I like a lot of the new features in 09, but like all the previous versions, it has some issues as well.

  3. Ben says:

Acad 2009 is a memory HOG! I would not suggest it for a 3D drawing of any great size.

  4. Ron says:

I use Acad 2009 with service packs installed, and it blows-up 2 to 3 times a day.

  5. David says:

Were using 2009 on subscribtion and were not really running in to any problems. Like anything there are always going to be problems. Over all were very happy with 2009 and I do agree that icons are hard to see.
Most of the time I turn off the ribbion and go back to the defaut menu’s and toolbars. I like the ribbons I just have a hard time using them (finding command) for production drafting.

  6. Vincent Swift says:

I LIKE 2008 AND REALLY CANT SEE THE NEED FOR ANNUAL UPGRADES I THINK SOFTWARE COMPANIES IN GENERAL ARE SIMPLY TRYING TO SELL THEM JUST TO PROVIDE REVENUE UNDERSTANDABLY AFTER ALL COMPUTERS HAVE NOT REALLY
COME UP WITH A NEW APPLICATION IN THE LAST TEN YEARS OR MORE ONCE THEY WERE USED FOR WORD PROCESSING ,SPREADSHEETS,,DRAFTING ,DIGITAL GRAPHICS,
    AND INTERNET WHATS REALLY NEW?

I am using 07, like 08 and do not feel like learning to navigating the new interface to a program that, if I live to be a hundred, will never completely know. I do free-lance drafting and design and very much appreciate your tips, Mike. Thank you.

    Because i feel comfortable

I use ACAD 2008LT. After working with normal 2008 and 2009 versions, I do not like LT. Some times it’s TOO Lite, IMHO.

  11. KEN says:

USING AUTOCAD 2007 LT, AT WORK, AND USING AUTOCAD 2009 AT HOME. I USE 2009 FOR THE 3D, STILL TRYING TO GET MY HEAD ROUND NAVIGATING THE PANELS. STARTING TO ENJOY IT. NOT TO BIG ON ANY LT VERSION.

  12. Hmmm, 35+32+13+7+3+3+3+2+2+1= (101 in my book)

  13. Dan says:

I have been on autocad since the late ’80’s, and persevered through countless iterations and upgrades. I’m to the point in my career and life where I no longer want to be on the bleeding edge, I just want to be productive. I believe either 2007 ( on my computer) or 2008 (on my shelf) are my last updates. I’ve let my subscription expire, and plan to finish my career (several more years) with the same software setup.

  14. Ken,
It’s hard to go back to LT once you start getting used to the full version.
