Today I ran in my first 5K run. It was a blast. Three of my very best friends ran in it also. I finished in 26:38 which was well with-in my personal goal. Next stop, the Seabrook Half-Marathon next month.

Prevention can be fun (taking up a new sport or activity), keep us young and active, lower stress, increase energy and endurance, and extend our active lives much farther into the future. Once you start having to rely on “curing”, it’s a long, tough battle. I’ve had family members that were relatively young, but out of shape, get injured or sick and never recover. I’m sure we all know people like that. Nobody plans on being that person.

I just got back from running and I feel incredible. I love going outside and taking a run around our city’s lake. There’s something about running outside that’s so amazing. I love to see how far I’ve gone. The sense of accomplishment is what keeps me going back. That’s probably why I can’t run around a track or on a treadmill. Today me and 2 of my friends ran just under 4miles.

Wow, 2008 is history and 2009 has begun. My hope is that it’s the best year yet for all of you. My theme for this year is to Live on Purpose, for a Purpose. Before you know it, we will be bringing in 2010. Life is too short to procrastinate, too precious to waste and is filled with too much opportunity to be mediocre…
